Fortunately, a few stunts are rather impressive while director George P. Cosmatos shoots many sequences like an updated, slicker Halloween thriller; the presentation of much of the violence is enough to border on horror. Review

It’s a strangely comforting sort of low-stakes actioner, in which none of the stars are really ever in serious trouble – and in which snappy remarks come to the rescue as much as fortuitous bullet trajectories. Review

At least the emotions are there, with slow-motion machismo, teary-eyed reunions, and roars of defiance during climactic confrontations, generating a comforting aura that fits well with Deadpool’s brand, even if this latest episode is both entertaining throughout and completely forgettable afterward. The characters may be quirky and pleasant (salt-of-the-earth types), the photography vivid, the settings tranquil, the editing professional, and the graphics sharp, but it’s difficult to imagine that more than a handful of people will be entertained by this story... Review

As the tornado whisperer flirtatiously clashes with the tornado wrangler, the film tries way too hard to be exciting, resulting in exceptionally dull dialogue and interactions, which weirdly mirror the original Twister so closely that this essentially in-spirit-only sequel actually works pointedly as a remake. In a largely unoriginal riches-to-rags premise, the ultra affluent man is about to learn a few lessons concerning extreme poverty and compassion. It may be a comedy, but the lead character fairly quickly finds himself subjected to utter disregard and even violence. Review

Despite the amusement of the vast collection of stars and the whirlwind of Western adventure, it will surely be the score that persists beyond the other individual elements of this grandiose endeavor. Review

In some moments, it resembles the slapstick of Woody Allen’s flicks, but with far less originality, or The Three Stooges, but coming across as mere aping as opposed to witty homage. Review

Cooper and Stanwyck are entirely watchable, even if the plot grows artistically flagrant and thematically hollow, culminating in a final media ruse that is thoroughly farfetched, and a finale featuring average Joes who are excessively, unrealistically perceptive. Review

Smooth transitions, often accompanied by music and singing from pupils within the film, are complementarily superb, setting the alternating tones of seriousness and lightheartedness to match the students and their colorful journeys. Review

It’s difficult not to be amused by the various military stratagems, the action sequences (unrealistic as some of them may be), a few emotional interactions, and the idealized scenarios in which families unite or brethren stick together or characters cross paths with seconds to spare. Review

None of the undertakings are especially clever, with a few even leaning toward downbeat and dour, as the pacing tends to make the running time feel considerably longer than it is. Review
