Een groot pluspunt van Halloween is dat alle remmen los gaan. Waar de filmstudio er steeds vaker voor kiest om een milde horrorfilm te vertonen in de hoop dat de bioscoopbezoekers niet wegblijven, is Halloween een harde en bloederige film waarin de angstaanjagende gemaskerde moordenaar de onschuldige slachtoffers vakkundig aan zijn keukenmes rijgt.
