28 Days Later had novelty and was a really solid and beautifully crafted film by Danny Boyle. So this was always going to have to be compared with it. But I’d forgotten how good it was. As a park-your-bashed-in-brain-by-the-door action thriller it really delivers the goods. Review
A disappointment given the potential of the satirical comedy concept. Review
There haven’t been many great comedies so far this year and I’m not sure I would rate this one as ‘great’. But it did have its moments... Review
I enjoyed this one a lot, and I can’t say that about many of the animated to live-action knockoffs. This film had real heart and should do good family business over the summer holidays. Recommended. Review
If you want to spend two hours in the company of some breath-taking scenery in Scotland, then this is the movie for you! It’s like the northern, midge-infested version of The Salt Path... Review
I found this to be a pretty uninspiring action film, without any sort of engaging story or character work. It’s just a mess of action scene after action scene. If you enjoy that, then good for you. Review
A feelgood delight of a film. Absolutely loved it and will be returning for a second helping before its run in the cinema is completed. Review
This is the sort of film that if you can find a packed Saturday night cinema audience to enjoy it with, I predict you will have a raucously fun time. Review
Random encounters don’t necessarily add up to a coherent film, unless it’s a documentary. Review
This movie deserves some credit for creating an energetic and envigorating ride: one that also ticks the nostalgia boxes for some adults. Review
Granted it is sophisticated and slightly highbrow entertainment. But I think a lot more people will enjoy this one than Asteroid City... Review
I really can’t describe Paul Feig’s long-delayed sequel as a great film. And as it started, I thought it was going to be a terrible film. But it did pick up with some glossy production values and a fabulous foreign location. Review
It’s a really enjoyable popcorn comedy-horror flick that I really had a lot of fun with. Review
It’s a fun and wholesome Disney film that comes as a welcome surprise after a string of mediocre live-action remakes. Review
It is a real blast of popcorn entertainment and it is good for Ethan Hunt to go out on a – literal – high. Review
It’s not a very happy film to watch. But in my book, it is an extremely well made movie and deserves your attention. Review
Even though it’s a pleasant, great to look at, naturalistic movie about relationships, it’s not one that really moved my meter in terms of ‘feelings’. Not a film I will remember in a few weeks aside from the great central performance by Lily Collias, who could be a big future star. Review
This film deserves great praise for being both intriguing and well-delivered by Babak Anvari. Coming in at only 80 minutes and presumably having a very low budget, it is a welcome addition to this month’s cinema releases. Review
There is a good 90-minute film in here. ‘Simplify the cast somewhat and trim 30 minutes off the run-time and try again’ would be my message to the filmmakers. Review
This is a beautiful film. You might say, “it’s a catch”. (Pun intended.)... Review
It’s a mixed bag, made slightly disappointing because I thought the premise promised much more than it delivered. But it’s got some interesting angles and is well worth your time. Review
This is a terrific popcorn film and, for once, a Marvel film I enjoyed immensely. I urge you to try to see it on the big screen, where it is genuinely impressive. Review
It has a clever premise and a plot that requires you to really pay attention. But the film is tonally disjointed and went downhill with an ending I just found plain silly. Review
I thought it was fine and entertaining enough. But in no way memorable (there wasn’t even an upside down jigsaw to remember it by!). Review
