It’s a strangely comforting sort of low-stakes actioner, in which none of the stars are really ever in serious trouble – and in which snappy remarks come to the rescue as much as fortuitous bullet trajectories. Review
At least the emotions are there, with slow-motion machismo, teary-eyed reunions, and roars of defiance during climactic confrontations, generating a comforting aura that fits well with Deadpool’s brand, even if this latest episode is both entertaining throughout and completely forgettable afterward. Review
The characters may be quirky and pleasant (salt-of-the-earth types), the photography vivid, the settings tranquil, the editing professional, and the graphics sharp, but it’s difficult to imagine that more than a handful of people will be entertained by this story... Review
As the tornado whisperer flirtatiously clashes with the tornado wrangler, the film tries way too hard to be exciting, resulting in exceptionally dull dialogue and interactions, which weirdly mirror the original Twister so closely that this essentially in-spirit-only sequel actually works pointedly as a remake. Review
In a largely unoriginal riches-to-rags premise, the ultra affluent man is about to learn a few lessons concerning extreme poverty and compassion. It may be a comedy, but the lead character fairly quickly finds himself subjected to utter disregard and even violence. Review
Despite the amusement of the vast collection of stars and the whirlwind of Western adventure, it will surely be the score that persists beyond the other individual elements of this grandiose endeavor. Review
Thankfully, the picture is short, and Kristel is memorable. Review
Not enough of the plot was designed well enough to stand out from the pack of other ’90s sci-fi flicks; creative complications are simply far too few. Review
The climax is absolutely breathtaking, lending concepts to a wealth of subsequent shockers, as well as boasting a number of striking surprises. Review
A chronicle of her life doesn’t ever really rise to the occasion of movie-worthy; her specific misfortune seems utterly negligible in the realm of theatrical adversities, while a love triangle isn’t original enough to augment the drama, as it’s swift and unconvincing. Review
In some moments, it resembles the slapstick of Woody Allen’s flicks, but with far less originality, or The Three Stooges, but coming across as mere aping as opposed to witty homage. Review
Cooper and Stanwyck are entirely watchable, even if the plot grows artistically flagrant and thematically hollow, culminating in a final media ruse that is thoroughly farfetched, and a finale featuring average Joes who are excessively, unrealistically perceptive. Review
Smooth transitions, often accompanied by music and singing from pupils within the film, are complementarily superb, setting the alternating tones of seriousness and lightheartedness to match the students and their colorful journeys. Review
It’s difficult not to be amused by the various military stratagems, the action sequences (unrealistic as some of them may be), a few emotional interactions, and the idealized scenarios in which families unite or brethren stick together or characters cross paths with seconds to spare. Review
None of the undertakings are especially clever, with a few even leaning toward downbeat and dour, as the pacing tends to make the running time feel considerably longer than it is. Review
Despite the central hardship and the constant threat of society’s merciless judgment, the film remains unpredictable and hopeful. Review
Not every gag lands (a couple actually fall quite flat), with a few portions meandering a touch, but several definitely stand out, sure to endure... Review
It’s nevertheless minimally amusing to see the collection of speed demons get killed off in ever more explosive ways, as they’re entirely unsympathetic and scripted solely as implacable bullies worthy of untimely demises. Review
Even framing the film with a court case provides negligible titillation, since motives are so transparent and unwavering. The end may be fitting, but it’s neither unexpected nor emotionally satisfying. Review
It’s difficult to dredge up much sympathy for personas that feel so inauthentic – and behave so recklessly. Review
Unfortunately, though a notable experiment in furthering the legacy of this famous movie monster, it’s very far from solid entertainment. Review
The unsteady nature of the comedy is immensely disappointing for a project that depends so singularly upon it. Review
Its quickness, crispness, visual excitement, and routine entertainment value are transitory; A Quiet Place: Day One doesn’t really add much to the world of noise-sensitive world-conquerors. It’s quite far from a necessary installment. Review
Yet even with the return of likable characters and the imaginativeness (and hilarity) of how a personality can be crafted – and then reshaped – by aging and the onset of disruptive hormones, Inside Out 2 doesn’t pack the poignant wallop of its predecessor. Review
