I’m not sure it’s the best film of the year but it’s still a well-made movie and a recommended watch. Review

It’s a glorious movie, utterly absorbing with ravishing cinematography by Yorick Le Saux and a brilliant soundtrack by Alexandre Desplat. Review

There’s not much more to say on this. If you liked the original, you’ll enjoy this one too. Review

I personally think Abrams did a pretty decent job here of trying to please most of the people most of the time. Review

I enjoyed this movie, primarily in watching the master Hanks at work. The overall pacing for me though was somewhat off. But I can’t be overly critical of such a warm-hearted movie. Review

Rian Johnson here pulls off a neat trick with the script which is brilliantly twisty and turny and 100% entertaining. Review

There were a total of two laughs in the movie for me. Period. Review

It really is a tremendously fun movie, with some genuinely laugh-out-loud moments mixed in with edge-of-your-seat action and some heart-rending moments. Review

For me, personally, I am clearly still 17 on the inside! I loved it. Not only do I think it a good comedy. It is also a feel-good movie about best friends; a coming of age lesbian adventure; and a film that treats the multi-coloured spectrum of modern sexual variety as something entirely normal and to be celebrated. It’s not bloody Shakespeare, but I found it – warts and all – an enjoyable night out at the movies. Review

What a shame. With a different script, and some good production values, this could have been a very different story. Review

Dark and brooding, with a slow-burn start, this is a proper drama that might make action superhero fans fidgety. Review

I liked this movie, but did I like it enough to rush and see it again? No, not really. Worth seeing though to appreciate the odds-on favourite (surely!) for the Best Actress Oscar of this year. Review

The cast is excellent and the episodes although inherently disjointed are good enough to sufficiently entertain throughout. It’s not a great horror film in my book – I actually enjoyed Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark far more – but worth a watch. Review

I think it’s worth seeing on the big screen just for its visual beauty and Pitt’s performance. And as a major block-buster sci-fi film I enjoyed it to a degree. But for me it had just so many irritations that it failed to live up to my high expectations. A great shame and a frustrating disappointment. Review

This is a feelgood film about a tough subject. The ending of the film pulls off the trick of being both devastating and uplifting at the same time. Review

It’s summer popcorn nonsense, but its well done popcorn nonsense. Probably not a film high on my list of films I want to see again, but as an entertainment vehicle it was not too shabby. Review

The young cast perform well. They are given enough back-story and personality by the script to make you care about their fate. Review

The film occasionally makes you cringe, with some dreadfully (and deliberately) naff songs, but I enjoyed it and for the right audience (kids 8 to 12) I think they’ll have a blast. Review
