It’s technically impressive and packs an emotional punch too at all the right moments. Review

This is an oddity and I’ve struggled to rate it. On the one hand it has some very odd and rough edges and a plot that barely makes any sense. But on the other, I had a good time watching this crazyness. I... Review

This one started strongly for me, then took a sharp turn into unpleasantness before ending on a whimper. Review

Dark and unexpected, this is an extremely well made, if depressing, movie from Todd Phillips. If you enjoyed Joker and want to go down to the next level of madness within Arthur Fleck’s mind, then you may enjoy this. Review

It’s a sunny, harmless slice of rom-com (more rom than com it has to be said) that flows through your senses harmlessly enough. Review

In summary, for me, this is a decent little thriller let down by a dodgy ending. Review

I appreciated the funny bits of this film and commend what it was trying to do. But equally, I understand why those seven people thought it wasn’t for them. Review

Anchoring the drama are brilliant performances from Ethan Herisse and Brandon Wilson as Elwood and Turner. But even better is Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor playing Nana Hattie. Review

Is it art? Maybe. Is it facile and pointless? In my view, definitely. Review

The whole cast are excellent with no weak elements. But particularly winning are the leads Karan Soni & Jonathan Groff. Review

It’s comedy but it’s also drama. Core to this is the stressed relationship between David and Benji. Review

This is a perfectly pleasant movie. A few smiles and even a couple of chuckles. But it’s not a comedy that I will remember in a month or two’s time. Review

As a stop/motion film, I nearly skipped this one. But I’m so glad I didn’t. It was truly great and I think it will get a BIG fan club when it is on general release. I loved it. Review

This won’t be for everyone and it seems to have had a lukewarm reception from its previous Festival outings. But I personally enjoyed it as a rollercoaster ride of changing relationships. It is a little bit muddled in its execution, but I didn’t mind that since I’m sure a lot of medieval life was very much more muddled! Review

I wasn’t riveted by this one, but it did hold my interest throughout. And I feel I know just a little more about the history of Mozambique. Review

As I’ve said before, I like my documentaries to show me something surprising about the world that I didn’t know about. Dahomey is a bit light in that regard as we follow (painfully slowly and artfully) a number of statues and other artifacts as they are boxed up in a Paris museum. Review

Above all, it’s just plain dull as it drones on with its pontificating for 158 tiresome minutes. Review

There are jump scares throughout, as you would expect of a movie of this type, and some of them I found half-decent. Review

This is a really well-made drama turning the spotlight on the struggles of alcoholics trying to stay sober. It’s a tough watch at times, but also surprisingly uplifting. Review
