Door het duistere en sombere karakter van de film durfde de studios hen vingers er niet aan te branden, maar Carpenter kreeg het groene licht na het succes van Halloween. Tot groot genoegen van de liefhebbers die getrakteerd worden op een zeer onderhoudend filmpje. Eveneens te danken aan hoe Kurt Russell de rol van Snake speelt.
