Its mixture of tones caused by the odd range of performances fails to contribute anything positive to the film, only providing comedy that falls flat and a less than compelling story which quickly goes south. Review
The awards accolades the film has attracted are testament to how visually impressive the costume, hair and make-up is and the performances match this aesthetic in every moment. Outstays its welcome leaving viewers with a poorer impression of itself than it deserves. Review
So whilst its crime caper style comedy content keeps ‘The Mule’ light and entertaining and with the sheer unbelievable premise for the film contributing to this also complimented by Eastwood’s leading performance the lack of anything deeper than this prevents it from wholly maintaining its audience’s attention. Review
Thanks to Steve Carell and Timothée Chalamet's compelling chemistry combined with the emotional subject matter they ensure that this heartbreaking family drama will be sure to move you. Review
Whilst not as strong as either of the films preceding it, Glass pieces together both previous narratives with skill and satisfaction delivering a Shyamalan story with all his best traits in plain view. Review
Certainly has its moments but feels more like the first draft of a screenplay rather than a fully fledged action thriller. Review
For those who have seen the original film there’s nothing new to gain here and it will be hard for those viewers not to compare it to this however The Upside will certainly appeal to new audiences and suffices as a decent, if somewhat unnecessary remake. Review
A thoroughly engaging period drama that has so much to say and does so in such entertaining fashion. Knightly is excellent in the titular role with really great support from West... Review
One part road trip movie and zero parts comedy The Last Laugh will sooner depress audiences than make them laugh. Review
An entertaining crash course into the cause of the current state of politics in the country today. Review
For those who can embrace the strongly sentimental tone that the film exudes the performers will provide for them a wealth of engaging and effective emotion that gives the screenplay more credibility than it has itself. Review
It’s a story you’ll be richer for knowing, and with some reflection the film may well improve its impact on you but it’s doesn’t quite deliver the big screen treatment that this story really deserves. Review
Casting its dark eyes once more on gaming culture, but also that of free will amongst several other themes Bandersnatch is classic Black Mirror storytelling but presented in an extraordinary manner. Review
Sandra Bullock anchors this compelling post-apocalyptic horror with an assured and emotional central performance. Review
Easily one of the best entries into this series of films... Review
The film ends up being somewhat of a missed opportunity as it can’t fully realise its original concept however it’s not a complete misfire as it chugs along nicely until its gradual breakdown. Review
The screenplay could have done with some fine tuning but nonetheless delivers much comedy and entertainmen... Review
It’s comfortably the best animated film of the year and there’s a strong argument for it being the greatest ever incarnation of Spider-Man period. Review
There’s no debating it now, James Wan has made Aquaman cool and no longer the runt of the DC litter. Review
Simply tries to do too much, attempting to retell the classic Jungle Book story whilst also shedding light on lesser known elements. In trying to do both it fails to succeed with either sections of its narrative. Review
It’s not a bad film, it just falls victim to the heavily trodden tropes of the genre, not so badly to be remembered as a low light for the genre this year, however neither does it achieve enough to elevate it to a memorable highlight. Review
So whilst it’s maybe not going to get the title of pageant winner, thanks to its crowd pleasing story, likeable cast and positive vibes Dumplin easily rises to the top to walk away with the Miss Congeniality prize and deservedly so too. Review
Even with Redford’s fine performance, supported well by turns from Spacek and Affleck and the rich style the film embodies through its music and visuals The Old Man & the Gun still falls far short of being anything overly memorable. Review
