It’s a wonderfully put together film and a strong candidate already for my films of the year 2024 list. Review
But forgetting that this is a remake, and focussing on the film as a standalone Mean Girls musical. This is a musical comedy that had moments that really worked and were funny, but a lot that didn’t. Review
It’s really great, if harrowing, to watch this on the big screen again. Review
It is certainly a gruelling and at times upsetting watch. But as a true story of hope and faith over adversity it is an EXTRAORDINARY tale and a wonderfully well-made film. Review
It’s a Statham movie! You get what you expect! A lot of mindless violence with bad guys and sometimes whole FBI teams of good guys being beaten senseless by Statham using only his muscles. It’s absurd… but it’s quite fun at the same time. Review
Like I said, maybe I’m a bit biased but this one was gently delightful. Review
Although directed by Pierre Morel, the director of Taken, this is utter hokum. Find Romancing the Stone or Jewel of the Nile and watch them again instead. Review
I *think* lovers of rom-coms will largely go for this one and have fun. Review
I found it to be a solid and well-made biopic that I would definitely like to give a second watch. Review
A fun film that has been long in the gestation. Next Goal Wins is certainly worth catching on the big screen…. a fun trip for families with older kids looking for a New Year cinema visit. Review
It’s not bloody Shakespeare. But what it tries to do, it does perfectly well. An enjoyable romantic diversion of a film. Review
It’s a well-made film, with a stunning central performance by the 25-year-old Cailee Spaeny. But it’s hardly a film that fills you with festive cheer. Review
I know that many people view Chicken Run as a masterpiece and are loathe to watch this one for fear of dissapointment. But I don’t think they need avert their gaze. It’s obviously not as fresh as the original, and people will no doubt miss the original, and much-loved, original voiceover stars. But it’s a pretty decent family film. Review
It’s a very bog-standard action film, over-ruled by CGI effects, under-used star-power, weak character development and a convoluted plot. Review
I never thought that I would give 4*s to a Japanese-language Godzilla movie. But it really is impressively good stuff and eminently watchable. Recommended for a fun night out. Review
This is a terrific movie that will be of particular interest to the like-minded ‘silver-dollar’ community of older film-goers. ... Review
I really enjoyed the first film and enjoyed this one even more. A really great rollicking adventure yarn. Recommended. Review
It’s a fine and well made film. But not one that I found appealing or engaging. A bit of a disappointment to be honest. Review
I found this a flawed but ultimately interesting apocalyptic excursion that kept me entertained and intrigued throughout. Well acted and with interesting direction by Sam Esmail, it’s well worth checking out. Review
This is just SO much fun! From the brilliant opening song the film sucks you in with the same quirky brilliance that Paddington and Paddington 2... Review
Do yourself a favour and watch the original Freaky Friday again. Or even the Lindsay Lohan/Jamie Lee Curtis remake. If you want to feel Christmassy, put some tinsel in your hair. Review
Utterly forgetable festive offering that is worth avoiding at all costs. Review
It’s weak Christmas fare compared to the classics of the genre. But compared to Best. Christmas. Ever! and EXmas it’s bloody Shakespeare. Review
