Denzel levert altijd puik acteerwerk af en dankzij de eenvoud is alles makkelijk verteerbaar. Hoewel ik betwijfel of Equalizer 3 de volledige prijs van een bioscoopkaartje rechtvaardigt, geloof ik wel dat de film zijn plaats zal vinden op een streamingplatform. I didn’t expect too much from this one, but I really did have a fun time in the cinema. It takes its time building mood and character, so you really care about what happens to not only McCall but the ‘family’ around him. And then Fuqua delivers its action scenes with style and brutality. Lees meer

The showy direction Fuqua opted for in the previous two instalments felt jarring when set against Washington's calm portrayal of an aging and gentlemanly killer. He appears to have matured as a director in the intervening years, and his studied approach here is more befitting a series centred on a man who can't move as quickly as his adversaries but is always two steps ahead.
